Monika Nowicka holds a PhD in sociology and is an assistant professor at the Institute of Sociology and deputy head of the Department of Sociology at Collegium Civitas. She specializes in migration studies, with a particular focus on the integration of immigrants. Her areas of interest also include urban sociology and the sociology of small social groups. Monika has conducted research for state institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, and the Ministry of Interior and Administration’s COPE. She has also collaborated with non-governmental organizations and local authorities.
From 2018 to 2020, she served as President of the Council for Immigrant Integration in Mazovia. Her current research focuses on the intersection of refugee experiences and disability, particularly concerning Ukrainian war refugees.
Monika is a recipient of a grant from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
