In a new episode on YouTube channel WorldView Dr Jon-Hans Coetzer talks with Dr Brigitte Piquard on geopolitics, the situation in Afghanistan, and how to resolve conflict situations. Dr Brigitte Piquard is Reader in Humanitarianism and Conflict at Oxford Brookes University (UK). Dr  Jon-Hans Coetzer is the Team Leader Online Learning and Education, Division for Peace, United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and is co-heading the Strategic Peace and Conflict Studies – master’s degree program run jointly by Collegium Civitas and UNITAR.

Dr Brigitte Piquard is Reader in Humanitarianism and Conflict at Oxford Brookes University (UK). She is an anthropologist and a political scientist by training. She has carried out most of her research in South and Southeast Asia, in the Balkans, South Caucasus and in the Middle-East on conflict and humanitarian issues, such as culture of peace and war, transitional political set-up and social rehabilitation of war-torn societies. She is currently conducting research on the nexus between humanitarian action and peacebuilding and has conducted action-research projects with local NGOs in conflict and post-conflict settings such as Colombia, in Lebanon and the Central African Republic. She is also director of CERAR, Centre d’Etudes et de recherche-Action sur la resilience, in Paris.

Dr  Jon-Hans Coetzer is the Team Leader Online Learning and Education, Division for Peace, United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Head of the Strategic Peace and Conflict Studies – master’s degree program run jointly by Collegium Civitas and UNITAR. Dr Coetzer is a senior higher education leader with over 15 years of experience. He served as Academic Dean of IHTTI, Neuchâtel, and most recently Academic Dean of the European University’s Swiss Campuses. He also served as a member of the strategic management team. He designed and led academic programs in Germany, Australia, Thailand, Japan, China, Vietnam, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, South Korea, and Kazakhstan. He forged collaborative partnerships with prestigious global and regional institutions and organizations. Dr Coetzer has also worked as senior delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in more than fifteen countries and project coordinator for UNITAR. His research interests focuses on the cross-cultural challenge of framing attuned leadership in the international classroom for positive change in higher education in the 21st century, including delivering results within the UN 2030 Agenda-framework.
