Collegium Civitas Lecturers have been Appointed to the Council of the National Programme for the Development of Humanities

On 18 April the deputy prime minister and minister for science and higher education Jarosław Gowin announced the composition of the Rada Narodowego Programu Rozwoju Humanistyki (Council of the National Programme for the Development of Humanities). The National Programme for the Development of Humanities (NPDH), which from 2010 has supported Polish scholars, will from this year function according to a revised formula.

As announced by the minister of science and higher education, Jarosław Gowin, the new formula for the NPDH will include the following modules: National Heritage and Universals. In addition, the minister will be able to hold a competition for commissioned research projects regarding, for example, the implementation of scientific policy.

The composition of the Council now includes Prof. Marek Cichocki and Prof. Joanna Sosnowska.  Prof. Marek Cichocki is a germanist, philosopher and political scientist. A lecturer at Collegium Civitas, he specializes in German issues, European integration and the history of political ideas. Prof. Joanna Sosnowska  is an art historian whose interests include Polish art in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, art criticism and the methodology of art history. She has also organized and directed the postgraduate degree “Historia sztuki. Perspektywa społeczna i polityczna” (Art History. A social and political perspective) at Collegium Civitas.

 Marek A. Cichocki  A political scientist, sociologist, and philosopher, he is a specialist in Polish-German relations and European integration. Having lectured at the University of Warsaw from 1998 to 2015, he is currently a professor at Collegium Civitas. He has authored books and publications regarding international relations, the history of political ideas and European history. He is also editor-in-chief of Nowa Europa. Przegląd Natoliński (New Europe. Natolin Review) and joint creator of the philosophical annual Teologia Polityczna (Political Theology). In 2007 he represented Poland in negotiations on the EU’s Treaty of Lisbon.

 Joanna M. Sosnowska  An art historian, she is associate professor at the PAN Institute of Art in Warsaw. Her interests include Polish art in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, art criticism and the methodology of art history. She lectured at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University and the University of Gdańsk. She has published the following monographs: Materiały do dziejów Instytutu Propagandy Sztuki, 1930-1939 (Documents Regarding the History of the Institute for the Promotion of Art, 1930-1939, IS PAN, Warsaw, 1992); Polacy na Biennale Sztuki w Wenecji 1895-1999 (Poles in the Venice Art Biennale, 1895-1999, Warsaw, 1999); Poza kanonem. Sztuka polskich artystek 1880-1939 (Outside the Canon. Art by Polish Women Artists, Warsaw, 2003); and Ukryte w obrazach (Hidden in Paintings, IS PAN, Warsaw, 2012). In addition she has edited the following: Towarzystwo Zachęty Sztuk Pięknych (Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts, Warsaw, 1993); Wystawa paryska 1925 roku. Materiały z sesji naukowej Instytutu Sztuki PAN, Warszawa, 16-17 listopada 2005 roku (The Paris Exhibition of 1925. Proceedings from the Scientific Session of the Pan Institute of Art, Warsaw, 16-17 November 2005, Warsaw, 2007); and Wystawa nowojorska 1939. Materiały z sesji naukowej Instytutu Sztuki PAN, Warszawa, 23-24 listopada 2009 roku  (The New York Exhibition of 1939. Proceedings from the Scientific Session of the Pan Institute of Art, Warsaw, 23-24 November 2009, Warsaw, 2012). She is the author of numerous articles published in collected works including the journals Biuletyn Historii sztuki (Bulletin of Art History), Rocznik Historii Sztuki (Art History Annual), Twórczość (Creativity), Kresy (Borderlands) and Konteksty (Contexts).
