At the recent annual conference organized by the Global Business and Human Rights Scholars Association and the Business and Human Rights Teaching Forum, researchers Dr. Jacqueline Kacprzak and Dr. Lidia Stępińska-Ustasiak from the Human Rights Centre at Collegium Civitas presented a case study on the ‘Human Rights in Business’ course. This course is the first postgraduate program in Poland, emphasizing the institution’s pioneering role in human rights education.
The conference, held on September 12-13, 2024, at Wageningen University, Netherlands, brought together over 100 researchers and lecturers in the field of Business and Human Rights (BHR) from around the world. The two-day event was dedicated to sharing knowledge, experiences, and regional perspectives on the evolving role of human rights in business practices. Alongside our researchers, other Polish experts – Ms. Beata Faracik, Dr. Izabela Schiffauer, and Dr. Natalia Szablewska—also contributed to the conference discussions.
The Human Rights Centre (HRC) at Collegium Civitas, established in December 2023, plays a vital role in advancing human rights discourse, focusing particularly on the intersection between business practices and human rights. As a scientific, research, analytical, educational, training, advisory, and service unit within Collegium Civitas, the HRC aims to contribute to contemporary human rights debates, emphasizing the sociology of human rights and exploring how human rights evolve in the 21st century.
This participation at the conference and the development of specialized educational programs underscore Collegium Civitas’s commitment to being at the forefront of human rights research and education in Poland and beyond.
