On September 24th-29th Dr. Dr. Roland Zarzycki visited Vietnam National University in Hanoi within the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility framework. The Vietnam National University was founded in 1945, replacing the University of Indochina (1906), and today is one of the leading and most prestigious universities in Vietnam. VNU holds a unique position in Vietnam’s higher education, operating under special regulations with high autonomy in key areas, reporting directly to the Prime Minister, and maintaining legal status for its institutions under the Law on Education and Science-Technology.

During his visit, Dr. Dr. Zarzycki delivered a few lectures on modeling and measuring globalisation and development as well as data politics and artificial intelligence development in the context of global economy, which were met with great interest of students from Hanoi. He also participated as one of the main guests in the official ceremony of the opening of the new academic year.

Dr. Dr. Zarzycki was hosted by the Deputy Head of the Research & Partnership Development Office and the Deputy Dean of the School of International Training and Education, Professor Duc Bao Nguyen. In their discussions, Professor Nguyen and Dr Dr Zarzycki agreed that expanding Erasmus+ exchanges, including transcontinental programs, holds significant potential for fostering academic and cultural collaboration on a global scale. They concluded that strengthening partnerships between Polish and Vietnamese universities would bring mutual benefits, enhancing research, innovation, and cross-cultural understanding. As Dr. Dr. Zarzycki points out, “It would be wonderful if, one day, academic staff and student exchanges spanned the entire world, providing full, open, equal, and fair access to our shared intellectual and research resources.”
