On April 8, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education held a ceremony to appoint members of the National Team for Developing the Internationalization Strategy for Polish Higher Education and Science. Among the experts nominated to the team is Dr. Katarzyna Maniszewska, Vice-Rector for International Relations at Civitas University, representing the Conference of Rectors of Non-Public Academic Institutions.
The National Team was established by the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Dr. Marcin Kulasek. The work on the strategy is coordinated by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA). NAWA’s Director, Dr. Wojciech Karczewski, chairs the team, with Dr. Łukasz Gołota, Deputy Director of NAWA, serving as its secretary in an organizational and coordination capacity.
The aim of the forthcoming strategy is to create a renewed vision for the internationalization of Polish academia—one that reflects the evolving needs of the academic community and strengthens the global visibility and impact of Polish science. The final document is scheduled to be submitted to the Minister by the end of 2025.
International cooperation is a cornerstone of scientific and academic progress. Recognizing this, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education entrusted NAWA with the mission of developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy that will guide the international growth of Polish higher education and research institutions.
The strategy will focus on key priorities, including boosting academic mobility and enhancing the international reputation of Polish universities and research institutes. It is envisioned as a practical and forward-looking framework for institutional development, enabling Polish academia to better respond to global challenges and opportunities.
As a long-term initiative, the strategy will help shape the future of international engagement in Polish higher education and science. Its recommendations are expected to influence future legislation, as well as the design of grant and scholarship programs managed by Polish institutions, including NAWA.
