It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of Dr Krzysztof Liedel, our dear friend and longtime lecturer at Collegium Civitas, the Director of the Terrorism Research Center at Collegium Civitas, renowned expert in security issues, awarded with the Golden Cross of Merit for his outstanding services to the state and society.
Dr Krzysztof Liedel was a lawyer, renowned expert in combating international terrorism, security issues and information analysis, he was the director of the Terrorism Research Center at Collegium Civitas and the Head of the Institute of Information Analysis at Collegium Civitas.
His scientific interests focused on issues related to organized crime, prevention, combating terrorism and information security. A scholarship holder of the International Visitor Leadership program financed by the US government. He was one of the experts of the Section for the Prevention of Terrorism of the United Nations Security Council, the International Association of Crime Analysts and the International Association for Counterterrorism & Security Professionals. He served as Director of the Department of Law and Non-military Security of the National Security Bureau and the Director of the Department for Counteracting Terrorist Threats of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Interior and Administration.
Dr. Liedel authored many books, monographs and several dozen articles on terrorism and information security, such as: „Terror w Polsce – analiza wybranych przypadków” (2013), „Gliniarz” (2013), „Analiza informacji w działaniu” (2012), „Analiza informacji. Nowy wymiar zagrożenia terroryzmem w Europie” (2011), „Oswoić strach. Rozmowa o dekadzie terroryzmu” (2011), „Bezpieczeństwo Mistrzostw Europy w Piłce Nożnej. Euro 2012” (2011), „Transsektorowe obszary bezpieczeństwa narodowego” (2011), „Otwarte źródła informacji w działalności wywiadowczej” (2010), „Bezpieczeństwo w XXI wieku. Asymetryczny świat” (2010), „Zwalczanie terroryzmu lotniczego” (2010), „Zwalczanie terroryzmu międzynarodowego w polskiej polityce bezpieczeństwa” (2010), „Terroryzm w medialnym obrazie świata. Administracja, dziennikarze, terroryści w epoce walki informacyjnej” (2010) i „Zarządzanie informacją w walce z terroryzmem” (2010).
In 2015, pursuant to the decision of the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski, he was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit for outstanding merits in the service of the state and society, and for outstanding public and scientific achievements.
