On April 8, 2025, following the decision of Prof. Stanisław Mocek, Rector of Civitas University, a new unit — the Center for Research and Development in Civil and Defense Security — was established to meet strategic challenges in public security and defense.

Led by Ms. Marta Chalimoniuk–Nowak, an expert in civil-military cooperation and defense-related social research, the Center will focus on key areas such as crisis management, energy and food security, protection against disinformation, and education for security across all levels. It will work in close partnership with public institutions, academic organizations, and industry leaders to foster innovation and build resilience.

The Center is part of the national Hawk Agreement (Porozumienie Jastrząb), placing Civitas University — as the only non-public institution and the only center specializing in social education and research — among Poland’s top academic institutions working on public defense projects, including initiatives connected to Poland’s EU Presidency.

More info about the Center for Research and Development in Civil and Defense Security is available here.
