New Ph.D. in Social Sciences: congratulations to Katarzyna Skiert-Andrzejuk

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Katarzyna Skiert-Andrzejuk, lecturer at Civitas University, Head of the Asian Economy Center, and researcher at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations, has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Social Sciences in the discipline of political science and public administration.

Her doctoral dissertation, titled “The Young Generation of Georgians in the Face of Socio-Political Transformation and the Challenges of Democratization” („Młode pokolenie Gruzinów wobec transformacji społeczno-politycznej i wyzwań demokratyzacji państwa”), was successfully defended on July 7, 2025, at the Institute of Political Science and Administration at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, UMCS). The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Katarzyna Radzik-Maruszak, Associate Professor at UMCS, with reviews provided by Prof. Anna Kolomycew (University of Rzeszów), Prof. Agnieszka Łukasik-Turecka (John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin), and Prof. Jacek Wojnicki (University of Warsaw).

Dr. Skiert-Andrzejuk’s research focuses on Central Asia and the Caucasus, state and nation branding, soft power, political leadership, and generational change in post-Soviet countries. She is also interested in youth-related issues and sustainable development.

In addition to her academic work, she hosts the original podcast “Akademicko” on Spotify, where she explores topics related to academic life and science.
