On July 9th and 10th 2019 an inaugural meeting of Concilium Civitas will be held. It is an independent initiative of Polish professors specialising in social sciences and working at the world’s leading universities. The professors will meet for the first time in Warsaw to discuss core phenomena and global trends of major significance for Poland and in Poland. Plenary debates with audience participation will take place as part of this event. The symposium is hosted by the Faculty of New Media and Journalism at Collegium Civitas.
The meeting will be accompanied by premiere of our Almanac (an overview of global phenomena and trends of special significance for Poland and in Poland) consisting of articles written by the Concilium members for Polish readers. The launch is planned on July 9th – first day of our symposium, however some of the articles will be available on this page before the symposium (also in English).

Some of us have found another ways to enter the circle of Polish affairs. Poland is a scientific discipline for some of us. And some of us are interested in Polish affairs besides our scientific disciplines. We are all bound by the feeling that as scientific researchers of social processes – inlcuding economy, politics, history – participating in international academic debates on public affairs, we are obliged to be active and selfless in offering Poland our knowlegde. This is the reason we created Concilium Civitas – informal body initiated in the spirit of traditional social responsibility of Polish intelligentsia.” – write the authors in the Manifesto of Concilium Civitas.
