Between April 6 and April 12, Civitas University hosted the second edition of the Foreign Academic Tour titled “Security in Times of Global Challenges,” attended by representatives from the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC).
The program featured meetings with high-level officials, lectures, and in-depth discussions with security experts. Participants had the opportunity to visit the Fire University in Warsaw, where they learned about the vital role of firefighters in prevention, emergency response, and building societal resilience in Poland.
The visiting delegation consisted of students in the Master’s in Public Safety program at PPSC, representing various public, national, and local institutions in the Philippines, including law enforcement and the judiciary.
The academic tour covered a wide range of contemporary security challenges, including counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, hybrid warfare, and the weaponization of migration. Participants engaged in discussions with Prof. Tomasz Aleksandrowicz from the Police Academy in Szczytno and Dr. Marek Jeznach from the Polish Association for National Security.
The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Władysław T. Bartoszewski, Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Minister Bartoszewski congratulated PPSC and Civitas University on the collaboration and presented certificates to all participants. “This is already the second academic tour hosted by our University. This format offers a valuable platform for discussion, networking, and strengthening collaboration between our countries. It is a privilege to foster academic relations that contribute to science diplomacy,” – said Dr. Katarzyna Maniszewska.
Civitas University and PPSC plan to continue their fruitful collaboration. During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by PPSC President Gen. Sevilla and Rector Prof. Mocek, marking another milestone in the growing partnership between the two institutions.
