Civitas University proudly hosted its inaugural Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP), titled “Migration and Internal Security of the European Union”. This landmark academic initiative brought together students and faculty members from three partner institutions for a week of collaborative learning, cultural exchange, and insightful discussions in Warsaw.

The BIP was organized in a hybrid format, combining an online preparatory phase with a week-long on-site program held in May 2025. It brought together 30 students and 6 lecturers from the Medical School Berlin (Germany), Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (Romania), and Civitas University (Poland). Throughout the program, participants engaged with key issues related to migration and internal security through a series of lectures, workshops, study visits, and team projects.

The academic component featured contributions from distinguished scholars and practitioners. Dr. Paulina Piasecka, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Civitas University, delivered a guest lecture on hybrid threats. Dr. Monika Nowicka and Dr. Omoye Akhagba, both from Civitas University, delivered key academic sessions during the program—Dr. Nowicka gave a lecture on “Human smuggling and trafficking”, while Dr. Akhagba led a hands-on workshop on “Working with migration data”. Dr. Bożena Leven, lecturer at The College of New Jersey and the Warsaw School of Economics, led the final session.

Participants also had the opportunity to visit cultural and institutional sites relevant to the program’s themes, including the POLIN Museum and NGOs working with migrants. These study visits deepened their understanding of the real-world context surrounding migration issues in Europe.

In addition to the academic program, the BIP included a rich cultural and social agenda. Students participated in university and city presentations, intercultural workshops, guided tours, and a farewell party that celebrated the friendships and connections formed during the week.

The program concluded with final group presentations, an evaluation session, and a formal closing ceremony during which participants received certificates of completion.

The success of this first-ever BIP at Civitas University reflects the institution’s strong commitment to internationalization and innovative teaching formats. The program was organized by the International Relations Office, with coordination by Mr. Piotr Czarnota and Mrs. Anna Skolasińska, Erasmus+ and International Exchange Coordinators, and Mr. Maciej Krzyczkowski, Head of the UC International Office. The academic oversight was provided by Dr. Monika Nowicka.

We extend our sincere thanks to all partner universities, guest lecturers, and students for their active participation and enthusiasm, and we look forward to future editions!
