Double Recognition for Katarzyna Anna Przybyła in Human Rights and Ukrainian Studies

Based on her academic achievements and research with a focus on human rights, peace and conflict studies and Ukrainian Studies, Katarzyna Anna Przybyła, was recently awarded: Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship in Human Rights and Irena Knysh Graduate Fellowship in Ukrainian Studies.

Irena Knysh Graduate Scholarship in Ukrainian studies commemorates Irena Knysh’s life, her many contributions to the Ukrainian women’s movement, and to the study of Ukrainian history and culture. The endowment fund was established at the University of Manitoba, Canada, by Dr. George Knysh, Irena Knysh’s son, in memory of his mother.

Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship in Human Rights endowment fund was established at the University of Manitoba, Canada, by Dr. Krishnamurti and Dr. Ganga Dakshinamurti. Dr. Krishnamurti Dakshinamurti is the President of the Mahatma Gandhi Centre of Canada, which since 2010, has annually conferred the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award to recognise and honour original thinkers and initiators of conflict resolution, and holds an annual dinner and awards ceremony for the recipients. It is the intention of the Mahatma Gandhi Centre of Canada to donate the proceeds from this annual function to the endowment fund each year.
