It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Ambassador Sławomir Klimkiewicz — a distinguished political scientist, diplomat, lecturer, and mentor to generations of students at Civitas University.

Ambassador Klimkiewicz devoted his academic and professional life to the study and practice of international crisis and conflict resolution, diplomacy, diplomatic protocol, intercultural communication, mediation, and negotiation. He was also a respected expert on political and social developments in the Balkans and Latin America, Turkish politics, as well as migration and refugee issues.

During his diplomatic career, Ambassador Klimkiewicz served as Director of the Department of Information and Cultural Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, and as a staff member of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

From 1999 to 2005, he was part of the leadership team of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he contributed to state-building efforts, the development of civil society, and dialogue between ethnic groups. He also took part in numerous OSCE missions addressing conflict and crisis situations across the Balkans.

Ambassador Klimkiewicz lectured at universities in Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin (Trinity College) and Caracas, and headed Polish diplomatic missions in France, Venezuela, Cuba, and Algeria.

We will remember him as a person of profound kindness, intellectual curiosity, and openness — someone who inspired students and colleagues alike through his knowledge, experience, and unwavering dedication.

His passing is a tremendous loss to the academic community of Civitas University.

We extend our deepest condolences to his Family, Friends, and Colleagues.
