We are proud to announce the launch of a new project, “Understanding Migration Realities: Teaching Through Migration Research in Diverse Societies” (MIGRAEDU), which began on September 1st. This initiative is led by Collegium Civitas, in partnership with the Research Institute for Quality of Life (ICCV), a research institute of the Romanian Academy in Bucharest.
Dr. Monika Nowicka will spearhead the activities of MIGRAEDU, supported by Dr. Omoye Akhagba, a team of lecturers from the Department of Sociology at Collegium Civitas, and our students. In parallel, Prof. Bogdan Voicu, Dr. Alexandra Deliu, and doctoral candidates from ICCV will conduct activities in Romania.
The project aims to conduct research on the current situation of Ukrainian refugees with special needs in Poland and Romania. Based on these findings, it will develop modern e-learning materials (research-led teaching) focusing on areas such as refugee aid and humanitarian assistance, the role of civil society and NGOs in welcoming refugees, the quality of life and needs of refugees, challenges in integrating refugees with disabilities, research methods and techniques in refugee studies, and ethical considerations in researching vulnerable groups.
Students from Collegium Civitas and doctoral candidates from ICCV will play an active role in the research process and the creation and evaluation of educational materials. By engaging students and offering training and methodological support to lecturers, the project aims to strengthen the academic and research capabilities of the partner institutions.
This is yet another project we are conducting in partnership with ICCV. Soon, we will present the results of the UNRF project, which focuses on assessing the scope and type of assistance provided to Ukrainian refugees with disabilities in the metropolitan areas of Warsaw and Bucharest. The UNRF project was funded by NAWA under the Intervention Grants program.
MIGRAEDU is financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the Strategic Partnerships Program.
