A sociologist by training, from July 2016 he has been deputy director at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Having previously headed the think-tank Centrum Studiów Polska-Azja (Poland-Asia Research Centre), he is currently its senior fellow. He has also authored a number of books about China and Asia including Chińska ruletka. Olimpiada i co dalej? (Chinese Roulette. Radosław Pyffel—a speaker in Mandarin Chinese—has studied at Chinese universities including Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou and Beijing University. In his free time he likes to read books, watch films and do sports that are popular amongst Poles and Chinese, namely football, badminton, chess and Wei Chi (Go).
