We are excited to announce the commencement of the 10th edition of our Summer School “Security and Society in the Information Age”. This year, we are delighted to host 20 students from various U.S. universities, including Stetson University, Michigan State University, Case Western Reserve University, the University of Texas at Austin, and many more.

The program combines the four-week intensive course on Central Europe & Security Issues with a two-week research internship with the Terrorism Research Center.

Designed and run in collaboration with SRAS (USA), our summer school program is uniquely positioned to address global issues through the lens of Central Europe’s rich historical and cultural backdrop. This year’s curriculum is particularly poignant, focusing on the regional and global implications of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and exploring the interconnectedness of conflicts across different regions, including the Middle East.

Participants will delve into critical topics such as terrorism, state sponsorship of terrorism, private military companies, international law relating to war, peacebuilding, hybrid threats, cybersecurity, and energy security. The course not only provides academic enrichment but also includes enriching field trips to significant sites like the Warsaw Rising Museum and POLIN Museum, as well as study tours to Cracow and Berlin.

The program also integrates a two-week research internship with the Terrorism Research Center, where students will engage in intensive research projects under the guidance of esteemed mentors Dr. Paulina Piasecka, Dr. Vanessa Tinker, Dr. Monika Nowicka, and Dr. Katarzyna Maniszewska. Their research will culminate in academic papers slated for publication in the upcoming Volume 7 of “Security and Society in the Information Age,” expected in fall 2024.

We are proud to offer this immersive experience that not only educates but also prepares future leaders to understand and engage with complex global challenges. Welcome to all our participants for what promises to be an enlightening and transformative summer!
