On November 14th, Dr. Paweł Maranowski, Vice Rector for Student Affairs at Collegium Civitas, participated online in the first International Conference on Social Science at the University of Mataram in Indonesia.

ICSS 2023 provided an international forum for academics, researchers, and industry practitioners to share their research discoveries and achievements in the field of Social Sciences. The conference was organized to foster the exchange of ideas in all areas related to innovation in social sciences.

Dr. Maranowski, with his presentation titled “Technological Innovations in Social Research,” was one of the conference’s keynote speakers. His presentation explored the vital role of technology, particularly in the context of social research in Poland. It began by introducing the academic framework related to the study of elites and power institutions. The historical overview delved into how technology has influenced social sciences in Poland, impacting research methodologies and data analysis. Special attention was given to how technological innovations contribute to gathering and analysing qualitative and quantitative data, with a focus on potential benefits and ethical concerns. The presentation includes a case study on the use of ChatGPT, an advanced AI language model, in analysing Polish power elites. It detailed how this tool enhances desk research data analysis and outlines the methodology, highlighting the future development of technology in social research and emphasizing its importance for advancing the field.
