In August 2023, the International Seminar “Communication, Diversity, and its Trivial: A Dialogue among Poland, Malaysia, and Indonesia” was organized by University Al Azhar (UAI) in Jakarta with the participation of guest lecturers from Collegium Civitas (CC) and Universiti Teknologi Mara Malaysia (UiTM).
The seminar, opened by UAI Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Asep Saefuddin, was divided into two parts with a different thematic focus. In the first part, it was intercultural communication, whereas, in the second part, the lectures focused on communication trends and social media.
On August 3, Dr. Paweł Maranowski, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, held a lecture on “Communicating in a Culturally Diverse Society.” Dr. Tengku Elena Tengku Mahamad, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies at UiTM, talked about Communication and Diversity in Organizations. Dr. Yuherina Gusman, Senior lecturer at the International Relations Department of UAI, presented the topic “The Future of Digital Diplomacy in International Relations.”
In the second part, held on August 11, Dr. Katarzyna Maniszewska, Vice-Rector for International Relations, presented the topic “Ethics in Journalism & Media Literacy.” Dr. Ahlam Binti Abdul Aziz, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies at UiTM, discussed the “Fascination of TikTok Influencers towards Shaping Viewers’ Buying Culture.” Dr. Damayanti Wardyaningrum, Senior Lecturer of Communication for Master Program, UAI, talked in her presentation about Gen Z and its Media Consumer Trend in Indonesia.
With the seminar, the University Al-Azhar Indonesia and Collegium Civitas advanced their collaboration. During the international seminar, UAI and Collegium Civitas signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).
