Collegium Civitas has published the English version of the book ‘Długie trwanie narodu. Społeczne wymiary polskości (1988-2021)’ (“The Nation’s Longue Durée. Social Dimensions of Polishness (1988-2021)”) by Prof. Ewa Nowicka-Rusek and Prof. Sławomir Łodziński. The publication deals with the national identity of Polish women and men, and their approach to other nationalities.
The authors discuss the Polish approach to cultural and physical otherness and ethnic, religious and racial stereotypes. The book presents unique knowledge on the evolution of Polish society’s views over 30 years, gained through research conducted in 1988, 1998 and 2018.
The publication is one of the results of the research project “Poles and others” 30 years later, funded by the National Science Centre under the OPUS programme, which was carried out at Collegium Civitas between 2017 and 2021 under the leadership of Professor Ewa Nowicka-Rusek.
