On December 10th, we celebrate Human Rights Day, established by the United Nations General Assembly in commemoration of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.
A few days before the 75th anniversary of this event, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) was established at Collegium Civitas.

The main goal of the HRC is to contribute to the contemporary discourse on human rights, particularly in aspects related to the development of the sociology of human rights, business and human rights, and the evolution of human rights in the 21st century.

The main research areas of the Centre will include:

  • sociology of human rights,
  • business and human rights,
  • regulatory trends in relation to business and human rights,
  • reporting of human rights issues by companies,
  • human rights in the context of environment protection and climate change,
  • human rights and new technologies.

Dr. Jacqueline Kacprzak, an expert in human rights and a specialist in international (OECD, EU, UN) and national corporate responsibility, has been appointed as the director of the Human Rights Center at Collegium Civitas. Her academic interests focus on the sociology of human rights, the changes in modernity and capitalism, and the impact of climate change and the development of new technologies on the respect for human rights.
