On October 20 the participants in the course “Terrorism and the Media” met online with Mr. Michael Ottey, assistant editor on the national/foreign desk of the Los Angeles Times. Mr. Ottey has been a professional journalist for more than 30 years covering politics, foreign affairs, security issues. “Accuracy and ethics” – he said answering the question on the most important guidelines for journalists.

New research centre at Collegium Civitas. Focus on Democracy and Civil Society

On October 1 a new research centre at Collegium Civitas was founded - Centre for Studies of Democracy, Civil Society and Political Elites. The formation of the Center responds to political changes related to the long-term political democratisation in post-communist Central and Eastern Europe, and to the growing challenges to liberal democracy and the EU, particularly from surges of nationalism and populist authoritarianism. The Director of the Centre is  Prof. Jan Pakulski, University of Tasmania and Collegium Civitas. The Chairman of the Consultative Council is Prof. Grzegorz Ekiert, Harvard University.
