We are delighted to invite you to the final public event in the project “Undisabling the Refugee Flow: Increasing the Capacity of Polish and Romanian Stakeholders to Provide Support to Ukrainian Refugees with Disabilities in the Metropolitan Areas of Warsaw and Bucharest” (UNRF), led by Dr. Monika Nowicka.

The event is dedicated to launching the report on the needs of Ukrainian refugees with disabilities in Warsaw and Bucharest. The report is based on empirical research conducted within the project, involving stakeholders in the two research sites. It presents and analyzes their experiences with providing services to Ukrainian refugees, emphasizing the hurdles in the process and possible ways of improvement. The report also includes a section on good practices developed by stakeholders supporting Ukrainian war refugees.

The results of the research will be presented by:

Dr. Magdalena Szarota – a sociologist and Disability Studies scholar (PhD, Lancaster University), specializing in disability, intersectionality, human rights, public policy, and cross-sectional advocacy.

Prof. Dr. Habil. Bogdan Voicu – President of the Romanian Quantitative Studies Association, Program Director for World Values Survey (Romania), former Program Director of European Values Study (Romania), Vice-President of the Romanian Sociologist Society, and representative of civic society in the Romanian National Committee of Open Government Partnership.

Dr. Alexandra Deliu – a researcher in the field of vulnerability with experience in consulting projects for UNICEF, The World Bank, and UNHCR.

Dr. Monika Nowicka – a researcher specializing in the integration of migrants. She has conducted research commissioned by state institutions (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, COPE of the Ministry of Interior and Administration) and has cooperated with non-governmental organizations and local authorities. From 2018-2020, she was the President of the Council for the Immigrant Integration Model in Mazovia. Dr. Nowicka is also the manager of the project.

We look forward to your participation!
