At the beginning of 2025, by decision of the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Collegium Civitas officially joined the WSB-DSW Merito Scientific Federation, expanding the number of member institutions from five to six.

With the addition of Collegium Civitas, the number of academic disciplines with the authority to confer doctoral and habilitation degrees within the Federation has increased. Previously, the Federation covered eight disciplines: economics and finance, linguistics, security studies, social communication and media studies, physical culture sciences, management and quality sciences, pedagogy, and psychology. Collegium Civitas now contributes two additional fields: sociology and political science and administration.

The decision to expand the Federation marks the beginning of a long-term process aimed at integrating scientific potential. The primary goals include enhancing research activities, strengthening international academic cooperation, and fostering interdisciplinary research initiatives.

“By working together, universities can achieve significantly more than as individual entities, which is especially important in the context of international relations. This synergy facilitates foreign research partnerships, increases our visibility, and enhances our competitiveness in academic and business collaborations,” emphasizes Professor Marcin Kalinowski, President of the Federation.

“Being part of a scientific federation that brings together multiple Merito Group universities from across Poland allows Collegium Civitas to engage in research and publishing activities on a much larger scale, with greater know-how and support from a broader network of specialists across various academic administration fields. As part of the Federation, we benefit from eight disciplines already evaluated at the Federation level while adding two more previously assessed by Collegium Civitas alone. This integration also simplifies the formal process of establishing new study programs. Together, we now form the largest scientific entity among private universities in Poland, with a total of ten evaluated disciplines. Additionally, this federalization paves the way for us to attain university status,” explains Professor Michał Szostak, Vice-Rector for Research at Collegium Civitas.
