Dr. Katarzyna Maniszewska, Vice-Rector for International Relations and lecturer in Security Studies, visited higher education institutions in Manila, the Philippines. Dr. Maniszewska gave a series of lectures on Terrorism and Other Security Threats from the Central and Eastern European perspectives – at the Department of Political Science, University of Philippines Diliman (UP) and Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC).

The visit was an opportunity to discuss prospective collaboration with both institutions within the Erasmus+ program and beyond. Best practices relating to teaching and student research were also exchanged.

At PPSC, Dr. Maniszewska had the invaluable opportunity to discuss the Philippines’ current security issues with renowned experts, including the Head of the National Police College, the President of PPSC, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency.

In addition, Dr. Maniszewska met with Mrs. Anna Krzak-Danel, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of the Polish Embassy in Manila. The topics discussed included strengthening the academic cooperation between Poland and the Philippines, especially in the field of security studies, with cybersecurity being one of the priorities.

The visit was organized within the EU-funded Erasmus+ program as part of the teaching mobilities.

“Erasmus+ teaching mobilities are a great way not only to enhance one’s teaching and intercultural competencies but also to network and strengthen the internationalization of Collegium Civitas. I hope that the talks held in Manila will soon translate into concrete actions such as MoU signing and launch of joint initiatives” – said Dr. Maniszewska.
