We are delighted to announce that the pre-order for the book “Non-Artistic Kitsch”, published by Palgrave Macmillan and edited by Prof. Michał Szostak is now open. Orders can be placed on the Springer Nature website, with deliveries starting on December 18, 2024.

This book presents accessible and insightful examples of kitsch in non-artistic domains, providing theoretical and practical foundations for identifying it in areas such as psychology, linguistics, education, politics, law, religion, terrorism, television, and journalism. The contributors adopt primarily qualitative methodologies, including case studies, comparative analyses, and ethnographic approaches. To navigate the complexity and metaphysical nature of kitsch across such diverse disciplines, the book uses the “kitsch experience theory” (Szostak and Sułkowski, 2020) as its unifying narrative framework.

Prof. Krzysztof Kasianiuk, explores kitsch in politics.

Dr. Mudassira Sarfraz and Dr. Muhammad Kamran analyze kitsch in education.

Dr. Magdalena El Ghamari examines kitsch in religion.

Dr. Katarzyna Maniszewska and Dr. Paulina Piasecka investigate kitsch in the context of terrorism.

Dr. Adam Konopka and Collegium Civitas student Bianka Szymańska delve into kitsch in television.

Of course, the editor Prof. Michał Szostak, contributes as well.

The foreword was written by Prof. Monika Kostera and Prof. Stephen Linstead.

The book is a culmination of the international research project “Kitsch in Management: Determinants and Functions, Carriers and Propagators”, led by Prof. Szostak at the Collegium Civitas Institute of Management. The project concluded with a conference in May 2024, details of which can be found on our website.

We also recommend another book showcasing the results of this research: “Management Aesthetics: Kitsch and Modern Organisations,” edited by Prof. Szostak and now available for pre-order on the Routledge website. With the code AFLY04, you can enjoy a 20% discount on this publication!
