The Future in Science Fiction

Collegium Civitas in partnership with SRAS (USA) invites you to participate in the on-line summer school course "The Future in Science Fiction" held between 8 June - 06 August 2021. In this course we will take a look at science-fiction from the perspectives of sociology, security, political science and ethics. Alongside a series of discussions and workshops, we will be working on essays for publication in a course anthology. Enrollment deadline is May 1. The number of places is limited.

On October 20 the participants in the course “Terrorism and the Media” met online with Mr. Michael Ottey, assistant editor on the national/foreign desk of the Los Angeles Times. Mr. Ottey has been a professional journalist for more than 30 years covering politics, foreign affairs, security issues. “Accuracy and ethics” – he said answering the question on the most important guidelines for journalists.

It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of Professor Hanna Palska, our dear friend and longtime lecturer at Collegium Civitas, Vice-Rector of Collegium Civitas for Student Affairs in the years 2003-2010, sociologist of culture, member of the Edmund Wnuk-Lipiński Institute of Sociology at Collegium Civitas.

New research centre at Collegium Civitas. Focus on Democracy and Civil Society

On October 1 a new research centre at Collegium Civitas was founded - Centre for Studies of Democracy, Civil Society and Political Elites. The formation of the Center responds to political changes related to the long-term political democratisation in post-communist Central and Eastern Europe, and to the growing challenges to liberal democracy and the EU, particularly from surges of nationalism and populist authoritarianism. The Director of the Centre is  Prof. Jan Pakulski, University of Tasmania and Collegium Civitas. The Chairman of the Consultative Council is Prof. Grzegorz Ekiert, Harvard University.
