In 1977 the General Assembly called for the annual observation of November 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. To commemorate the Solidarity Day the Center for Research on Social and Economic Risks, in cooperation with the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Poland, organized a panel discussion attended by Ambassador Dr. Amal Jadou, Deputy Minister of MFA Palestine, and the Palestinian Ambassador to Poland, Dr. Mahmoud Khalifa.

Following the incident in the Polish village of Przewodów near the border with Ukraine please be assured that Collegium Civitas authorities are monitoring the situation closely. We express our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims – two Polish citizens.  We are following the official statements and we are waiting for the results of the investigation. However, the experts assess (incl. security experts from our university) it was a tragic incident not an attack. Furthermore, the international reaction to the incident showed how strong Polish alliance is with NATO and the EU.

On November 5-6 the Fair of Polish universities took place in London, in the Polish Social and Cultural Association POSK. The event was organized by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London.

On October 29 an online information session on the summer school Security and Society in the Information Age 2023 was held. The webinar was attended by over 20 students from different US universities, among them: University of Texas, Stetson University, Michigan State University, Minnesota State University, University of California, Berkeley, Purdue University, Pennsylvania State University, Connecticut College and more. The Society and Security in the Information Age program is run jointly by Collegium Civitas and SRAS, USA.

In October 2022 Mrs. Ilona Głowacka, Senior Specialist for International Cooperation participated in the Global Learning Summit. The purpose of the event, hosted by the Trinity College in Dublin, was to support and enable organisations unlock the transformative power of learning using applied research, innovative practices, and technology.

The Fair of Polish Universities in New York took place on October 22-23. During the meetings with Polish youth at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland, the offer of studying at Collegium Civitas was presented - both in English and Polish.

October 19-21 the annual conference of the Polish Association for American Studies (PAAS 2022) was held and hosted by the Department of British and American Studies, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. The focus of PAAS 2022 was inquiry into American crises past and present. Dr Katarzyna Maniszewska from Collegium Civitas participated in the conference.

The second issue of the journal “Terrorism – studies, analyzes, prevention” published by the Polish Internal Security Agency is available online. Among the members of the Academic Editor Board of the journal is Dr. Paulina Piasecka, Director of the Terrorism Research Center (TRC), and the reviewers team includes Dr. Katarzyna Maniszewska, TRC expert and Vice-Rector for International Relations. The issue includes a review of a newly published book by Prof. Tomasz Aleksandrowicz, Collegium Civitas lecturer.

On October 10 Collegium Civitas hosted a delegation of academics from Indonesia, representing University of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara and University Halu Oleo, Kendari, Sulawesi. The meeting was an opportunity to talk about potential cooperation in the field of teaching and research as well as student and faculty exchange.

Cross-Cultural Communications Initiative is a joint teaching project by MacEwan University, Canada, ESCA École de Management, Morocco and Collegium Civitas. The classes will be held between October 17 - November 25. Students will be given the unique opportunity to network with colleagues from other universities, practice cross-cultural communication, learn about other cultures and make friends globally.
