In April, Collegium Civitas had the pleasure of hosting a group of sixty-six young Ukrainians participating in the Ukrainian Academy of Leadership program. This visit was part of their broader European journey, organized under the leadership of Katarzyna Anna Przybyła, Collegium Civitas lecturer in collaboration with the Ukrainian Leadership Academy, Romanian Peace Institute PATRIR, and Un Ponte Per, an Italian-based humanitarian organization.

Palgrave Macmillan has published a book “Conflict and Post-Conflict Governance in the Middle East and Africa,” which includes a chapter written by Dr Magdalena El Ghamari, Collegium Civitas lecturer specializing in the analyses of the relationship between socio-religious and political factors, as well as policymakers. Dr El Ghamari focuses her work on the field of peacekeeping and conflicts in the MENA region.

In the new section of our website, “Social Changes in Focus,” we publish expert opinions by Collegium Civitas faculty. The latest comments include: “Why we need an EU-wide discussion on migration” by Dr Vanessa Tinker and “Social Change can end Period Poverty in Polish Refugee Camps” by Dr Omoye Akhagba.

In March 2023 Collegium Civitas was visited by Prof. Halim Nezihoglu from Suleyman Demirel University in Kazakhstan. The visit was organized under the Erasmus+ programme. Apart from a series of lectures and meetings, the Professor found time to give an interview to Radio Pałacc.

In April 2023 the 11th edition of the training  “Internationalization of Higher Education” was held. The programme is organized by Collegium Civitas in cooperation with the Center for Polish Education in Kiev. Since 2018 over 1000 faculty members from Ukrainian higher education institutions have participated in the programme.

As part of their research project on China, soft power, and environmental issues, Dr Agnieszka Nitza-Makowska and Dr Kerry Longhurst carried out a research trip to the US in February to meet with experts and analysts at think tanks: Council on Foreign Relations, Asia Society in NY and Wilson Center, Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC.

April 19, 2023 marks the 80th Anniversary of the Ghetto Uprising - when the Jews of Warsaw took up an armed struggle against the occupying Nazi Germans. On that day, they showed their bravery amidst no hope for victory. Facing annihilation, they chose to die with dignity. Between March 17th and 22nd, 2023, Collegium Civitas participated in an educational mission in Argentina and Brazil. The visit was organized by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA). Collegium Civitas was represented by Maciej Krzyczkowski, Head of International Cooperation and Promotion, and Ilona Głowacka, International Recruitment and Promotion Senior Specialist.
